New CJFS Services Honor a Legacy

Thanks to the generosity of one CJFS family, a pilot program is helping meet critical community needs and expanding access to essential services.  The Faye and Norris Friedman Caring Fund of the Birmingham Jewish Foundation is underwriting new private transportation option for our Senior Solutions program.

Vickie Jackson, CJFS Senior Support Specialist, will be working at CARES and providing rides to those who do not have family available to get them there, overcoming a common barrier to access. She will also provide rides for medical appointments, community programs, and services that support independence and quality of life. Vickie, a 15-year veteran on the CJFS team, has the deep experience and understanding to provide riders with the care that families have come to rely on from CJFS.

“We wanted to find a meaningful way to honor our parents’ memory. Extending the impactful work of CJFS, supporting older adults and their families, was a perfect way to do that,” said Diane Beck, one of the Friedmans’ daughters.

Thanks to the Friedman’s generosity, CJFS has been able to expand services, strengthen access to CARES, and better support individuals and families across our community—carrying forward a legacy rooted in compassion, dignity, and care.

If you, or a family member, are in need of private, reliable, safe transportation, contact CJFS at 205-879-3438 for more information.
