At CJFS, we believe a strong community is built on caring connections. Volunteers are at the heart of what we do, extending kindness and support to individuals and families of all ages. From helping older adults remain independent, to offering guidance, to providing companionship, every act of service makes a difference.
Whether you’re passionate about counseling support, caregiver respite, transportation, grocery delivery, or community outreach, there’s a meaningful way for you to contribute. By volunteering with CJFS, you become part of a team committed to compassion, dignity, and hope for every stage of life.
Volunteers are an integral part of our dementia respite program. They lead activities, assist with lunch, engage clients in conversation, and more. Our seasoned staff provides ongoing training to give you the tools you need for working in our CARES community.
In partnership with Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and volunteers, including the Junior League of Greater Birmingham, CJFS delivers groceries to 75 low-income older adults each month, creating greater food stability. Volunteers assist by unloading food and packing bags, placing reminder calls, and delivering groceries.
Volunteers enhance community and connection at our monthly daytime Shabbat services & lunch hosted by the LJCC.
CJFS has other ways to impact the families we serve through office work, board committees, and fundraising support. Contact Caleigh to learn more. This is also where you could have the volunteer forms.
