Steady Through Every Season

September begins the “ber months,” bringing cooler mornings, changing leaves, and a season of transition. For the Jewish community, it also brings Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, a time to reflect, look ahead with hope, and consider how we can care for ourselves and one another.

That spirit of reflection also invites us to think about practical ways to protect our health and well being in the year ahead. September 20 through 26 is Fall Prevention Awareness Week, an important reminder for older adults and their families that falls are not an inevitable part of aging.

Many falls can be prevented by taking practical steps, such as:

  • Removing loose rugs, cords and clutter
  • Improving lighting throughout the home
  • Installing grab bars and handrails
  • Wearing supportive shoes
  • Reviewing medications that may cause dizziness
  • Staying active to improve strength and balance

CJFS Senior Solutions provides home safety assessments to help families identify potential fall risks and determine what changes may make the home safer and easier to navigate.

As we welcome a new year and a new season, it is a meaningful time to pause, take stock and prepare for what comes next. CJFS is here to help older adults and their families navigate every stage of life with practical solutions and expert guidance.
