At CJFS, our commitment to community outreach is at the heart of everything we do. Through our array of programs and initiatives, we strive to meet the unique needs of our community, enhancing lives through meaningful connections and compassionate service. Our outreach efforts are designed to provide essential support and foster a stronger, more connected community.
Our Outreach Programs
- Volunteer Connections: Volunteering with CJFS is more than just giving your time; it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. Your involvement helps provide vital support and companionship to older adults, enhancing their quality of life. We offer volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals, such as supporting CARES respite program, packing and delivering for SGI, driving older adults to group programs, CJFS mailings, and committee work. Onsite and ongoing training is provided to help you be the best volunteer you can be. Experience the joy of knowing your efforts truly make a difference.
- Senior Grocery Delivery (SGI): In partnership with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama and the Junior League of Birmingham, our SGI program ensures low-income older adults can access nutritious food. We deliver shelf-stable items and fresh produce directly to those in need, offering more than just food—providing peace of mind and a lifeline to our most vulnerable neighbors.
- Medicare Part D Consultations: Choosing the right Medicare prescription drug plan can be overwhelming, but CJFS is here to guide you. Our free Medicare Part D consultations help you select the most cost-effective prescription plan, ensuring you and your loved ones receive the care you deserve.
- Jewish Fertility Foundation―Birmingham (JFF-BHM): Providing emotional support, educational programming, and financial aid to families facing fertility challenges, JFF-BHM helps navigate this difficult journey with hope and strength. In partnership with the Jewish Fertility Foundation, CJFS offers a monthly support group, one-to-one connections, and social events. Financial grants are available to Jewish families facing infertility. For more information contact Julie Cohen, JFF-BHM city manager at julie@cjfsbham.org or 205-879-3438.
