Finding Strength in Every Season

September brings with it a fresh energy. The school year begins, families return to familiar routines, and older adults adjust to new rhythms as the season changes. Fall reminds us that every transition, whether big or small, holds the possibility for growth, connection, and renewal.

For the Jewish community, this season is also marked by Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year—a time to reflect on the past, embrace new beginnings, and look ahead with hope. It is a reminder that every fresh start holds the potential for growth and renewal, values that guide our work at CJFS.

At CJFS, we see these beginnings every day. Children and teens stepping into a new school year may also carry the weight of anxiety, stress, or uncertainty. Through CJFS Counseling, parents, teenagers, and children find a safe space to share their struggles and build resilience for the year ahead.

Adults juggling work, parenting, and caregiving lean on our Senior Services team for guidance and reassurance. From care management and in-home support to transportation and resources, we help families navigate the complex journey of aging with dignity and confidence.

For caregivers of loved ones living with memory or movement disorders, our CARES program offers respite and connection. CARES provides engaging activities in a safe environment while giving caregivers the chance to rest and restore their own strength.

These moments of support—whether in counseling, caregiving, or community—are what CJFS is all about. Each new season brings its own challenges, but with care and expertise, we walk alongside individuals and families so that no one has to face life’s transitions alone.

L’shana tova—wishing you and your loved ones a sweet and happy new year filled with good health, connection, and renewal.

No matter what season of life you’re in, CJFS is here to help—call us today at 205.879.3438 or email at jfs@cjfsbham.org.
