CJFS Welcomes Margaret Lee

CJFS is pleased to introduce Margaret Lee, our new Senior Services Social Worker. Margaret will be working with older adults and their families to assess their needs and put resources into place that will help them remain living independently in the community with an enriched quality of life. As people age, it is often the small things that make a big difference in ensuring health, safety, and meaningful connections like access to healthcare, installing grab bars, help with grocery shopping or meal preparation, securing affordable housing, or assistance with managing bills.

Margaret completed her master’s in social work in 2019 and has worked in a variety of settings with people of all ages, including a community mental health clinic and a nursing home. Most recently, Margaret worked for UAB as a Medical Social Worker within the oncology clinic. Margaret is skilled in assessing barriers to medical care and identifying resources that reduce medical costs and improve safety at home. While she liked working at UAB, she missed working in the community and building more meaningful relationships with her clients.

“I believe that everyone should have their basic needs met, and more. Not only should we have a safe place to live, access to healthy foods and clean water, but we should be able to thrive in our environment. Thriving includes things like having access to quality healthcare, a supportive community, and feeling our lives have meaning and purpose,” Margaret shared. “I am so excited to work at CJFS, assisting older adults and families to achieve these goals.”

Margaret is currently working to obtain her LICSW and aims to expand her therapeutic skillset. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, and practicing yoga.
