Care Management and "Just Like Family” Assistance – We provide guidance, support and resources to assist you or your loved one in maximizing and maintaining an independent and dignified lifestyle. If you are responsible for the care of an aging relative, but live outside of Birmingham, CJFS can give you the security of knowing your loved one is receiving the same care and attention that you would provide if you were here. Our knowledgeable, experienced staff can offer as much – or as little—assistance as desired, including:
- Assessment of needs
- Development and implementation of personalized care plans
- Arrangement of medical appointments and communication with doctors
- Monitoring of in-home or nursing care
- Payment of monthly bills
- Access to community resources as needed
- Ongoing communication with family members

In-Home Personal Care – CJFS provides task-oriented services in order to help you or your family member continue to live independently at home with minimal assistance at an affordable rate, including:
- Light housekeeping
- Bathing and personal hygiene assistance
- Meal preparation
- Laundry assistance
- Personal errands
- And many other tasks to help you or a loved one remain in their home
Our team of Personal Care Attendants have had many years of experience. They believe in being helpful and efficient, and take pride in the services they provide.
Alabama Cares is a program of the Office of Senior Citizens Services in Jefferson County (OSCS) that provides caregivers of aging adults with respite care services and financial assistance for in-home supplies needed for care. CJFS assists OSCS by completing assessments to determine eligibility for the program and assisting clients in securing services. To apply for this program, you must contact the Office of Senior Citizens Services at 205-325-1416.

TLC Day -- Teens Lend a Caring Hand
Once a year, the weekend that Daylight Savings Time ends, we coordinate a day of assistance for our elderly community members. November 4, 2012 was our most recent TLC Day.
Supervised by an adult, a group of teens will be assigned to your home to turn back your clocks to Standard Time, change light bulbs, put new batteries in your smoke detectors, rake leaves, flip mattresses, clean your ceiling fans, and perform any other small jobs with which you would like help. Deadline to apply is a few weeks prior to the event. Stay on the lookout for updates in the fall!
